Coming off its second loss of the season, the Purdue football team will look to get back into the win column against Wisconsin (2-1) tonight at Ross-Ade Stadium.

For the first two games of 2023, the Boilermakers did not turn the ball over. However, against Syracuse in Week 3, Purdue gave it up 4 times. While the Badgers have started games slow this season, they have outscored opponents in the third quarter 48-7.

Can the Boilermakers pull in upset at home? Sam King and Akeem Glaspie will have analysis throughout, and we will have scoring updates, highlights and more. Please remember to refresh.

Pass interference or interception? Purdue football fans not happy at end of first half

Purdue made some moves on offense in the second half but the defense could not slow down Wisconsin from moving into field goal range. Or from scoring touchdowns for that matter.

Hudson Card threw for 202 yards (21 for 38) and 2 interceptions. Tyrone Tracy Jr. ran for 84 yards on 8 carries and 1 touchdown. Deion Burks caught 6 passes for 73 yards.

On defense, Kydran Jenkins and Sanoussi Kane each had 9 total tackles.

After that weird fumble play, Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen ran in a 4-yard score. They pulled off a trick play for the 2-point conversion.

Wisconsin 38, Purdue 17

Wisconsin forced a fumble on a play where Hudson Card attempted to pass but lost the ball before he could complete his throwing motion. Devin Mockobee got the ball, but thought the play was over. No whistle blew, however. The Badgers defenders stripped Mockobee and recovered the ball.

What a way to answer for the Purdue defense. On 3rd and 9 from the Boilermaker 43-yard line, Tanner Mordecai threw an interception to Botros Alisandro. The Wisconsin receiver nearly caught the pass but Alisandro went in and ripped the ball out at the same moment.

On the third play of the drive, Purdue’s Hudson Card threw an interception to a Wisconsin defender.

While Purdue’s defense has prevented the Badgers from scoring touchdowns as of late, Wisconsin is still converting its field goal attempts.

This time around, Nathanial Vakos hit a 48-yard field goal. Before that happened, Marquis Wilson nearly had an interception for Purdue.

Wisconsin 30, Purdue 17

Going into the fourth quarter, Purdue isn’t giving up. After the Wisconsin field goal, Purdue put together a drive that ended with a 6-yard touchdown run by Hudson Card. The drive lasted 9 plays and 75 yards.

Two plays earlier, Tyrone Tracy ran 24 yards to the Wisconsin 3 to set up the score.

Wisconsin 27, Purdue 17

The Purdue offense has been improving, but the defense continues to allow points. Wisconsin drove down the field again and finished the drive with a 22-yard field goal by Nathanial Vakos. The drive went 11 plays and 71 yards.

Wisconsin 27, Purdue 10

Tyrone Tracy has given the Boilermakers their first touchdown of the game. On 3rd and 5 from the Wisconsin 19-yard line, Tyrone Tracy Jr. dodged defenders and scampered into the end zone for the score.

Wisconsin 24, Purdue 10

The Badgers got the ball first to start the second half and ended it with a 38-yard field goal by Nathanial Vakos. The drive went 46 yards (7 plays).

Wisconsin 24, Purdue 3

Purdue marched down the field but the drive (11 plays, 61 yards) ended in a way Purdue wasn’t too happy about. In the final play of the half, Hudson Card threw into the end zone for Jayden Dixon-Veal, who fell down and the defender intercepted the pass. Dixon-Veal wanted a pass interference call but didn’t get it.

Three Wisconsin drives, three Wisconsin touchdowns. Purdue cannot stop the rushing attack so far.

The Badgers had their longest drive of the game (16 plays, 75 yards) that was capped off by a Braelon Allen 14-yard rushing touchdown.

Wisconsin 21, Purdue 3

The Boilermakers are on the board. Julio Macias drilled a 34-yard field goal. It is the first of his career at Purdue.

The drive lasted 58 yards and 8 plays.

Wisconsin 14, Purdue 3

Purdue is in a 14-point hole after punting on both of its possessions. On 3rd and goal, Tanner Mordecai had a tremendous amount of time, couldn’t find a receiver, then finally decided to run it into the left side of the end zone for a 6-yard score.

Wisconsin 14, Purdue 0

After stopping Purdue’s first drive with a 3 and out, Wisconsin drove down the field capped off its opening drive with a 14-yard touchdown run from Tanner Mordecai. Mordecai faked a handoff to running back Braelon Allen and ran untouched into the end zone.
